The previous "Book Grant" for K-8 programs is changing its name and terms to better serve your needs! The National Committee for Latin and Greek continues to offer funds for small grants, but has revised the parameters. If you are a teacher who is a member of the American Classical League or the Society for Classical Studies, you are eligible to apply. Additionally, you must be starting a new program, adding a new unit, or be significantly expanding an existing program that serves primarily elementary or middle school age students. You may also be starting a new structured outreach program to encourage elementary or secondary students to begin the study of Latin or Greek. 

You can apply to the NCLG for a mini-grant of up to $300 in order to purchase books or resource materials from the American Classical League, including materials from REDI  catalog or Excellence Through Classics, which focuses on elementary and beginning programs. You may also use the funds to purchase materials from other publishers or sources, if they are not available from ACL or ETC. These items must be specifically listed in the application and be approved by the NCLG Grant Committee.

There is now no set deadline for this award, but please give as much advance notice as possible when applying. To explore details and apply, see the application link below. Applications will be accepted at any time and will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Every effort will be made to issue checks to allow for purchasing books before the start date of the new program.

If your grant request is approved, you agree to write a 200 - 300 word article about your program and how it helped to promote the study of Classics.  Articles with photos or lesson ideas may be published in the ACL Newsletter or may be posted on the NCLG website. All awardees from each year will be formally announced at the ACL Institute in June.
